At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Labor, Health, Women's Affairs, and Social Issues on February 10, the First Deputy Minister of Health Aibek Matkerimov noted that cases of Down syndrome are most frequently recorded in Bishkek.

The committee's agenda includes the implementation of the Jogorku Kenesh resolution regarding children with autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.

The statistics on Down syndrome cases over the past three years by region are as follows:

    • Bishkek: 2022 — 42 children, 2023 — 44, 2024 — 56;

    • Osh (city): 2022 — 8, 2023 — 7, 2024 — 14;

    • Issyk-Kul region: 2022 — 8, 2023 — 10, 2024 — 9.

Deputy Nilufar Alimjanova asked when more accurate detection of diseases would begin. Aibek Matkerimov responded that there are important indicators that parents should pay attention to, such as the child's reaction to light and other signs in the first month of life. Informational materials on this are distributed in clinics, where family doctors explain them to parents.

The deputy emphasized the need to increase educational activities, as many parents are unaware of the signs of Down syndrome and often do not pay attention to them, leading to a lack of visits to medical institutions.
