At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues, which took place on February 10, the First Deputy Minister of Health Aibek Matkerimov announced the Ministry of Health's intention to revise the classification of rare diseases from ICD-10 to ICD-11.

During the meeting, the committee examined the implementation of the resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh regarding issues related to children suffering from autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.

Deputy Jildyz Sadyrbaeva asked what classification the Ministry of Health uses for rare diseases. In response, the Deputy Minister indicated that ICD-10 is currently being used.

According to the deputy, the new version, ICD-11, has greater functionality, which could contribute to better inclusion: by more accurately recording children's diagnoses, it allows educational institutions to promptly consider the individual characteristics of each child for organizing education. Sadyrbaeva also inquired whether there are plans to transition to the new standard.

The First Deputy Minister confirmed that the transition to ICD-11 is already being implemented in phases.
