This is 675.4 million kWh more than in the period from January to December 2024, which corresponds to an increase of 4.5%.
The growth in electricity production is attributed to the launch of new capacities, which was a response to the growing needs of the population and the business sector.
According to a statement by Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev in September, the upcoming winter will be the most challenging for Kyrgyzstan.
In this regard, measures to conserve electricity have begun in the country.
By mid-November 2025, the following restrictions were introduced:
- the use of outdoor lighting in government and administrative institutions in the evening is prohibited;
- the use of electricity in educational institutions is limited after 6:00 PM;
- a new power limit of 3 kW has been established for households, forcing residents to choose between using a washing machine or an electric kettle;
- the operation of mining farms has been suspended until the end of March 2026;
- the Bishkek city administration reported that in cafes, restaurants, and nightclubs, all energy-consuming devices, such as stoves and heaters, must be turned off after 10:00 PM, although this requirement was later softened;
- the president has instructed to minimize the volume of electricity imports.
