Daniyar Amangeldiev provided clarifications at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh
During the discussion in the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Nilufer Alimjanova raised the pertinent issue of including cleaning products in the list of socially significant goods. She noted that the prices of laundry detergents and other household chemicals have increased by 3-4 times, which significantly complicates the financial situation of families.
In response, the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Daniyar Amangeldiev, explained that the oil refining and petrochemical industries in Kyrgyzstan are in a development stage. He emphasized that introducing state price controls on such goods could lead to shortages.
Amangeldiev added that the government conducts constant monitoring of prices for a wide range of goods and services as part of the social package. In the event of a sharp price increase, authorities first reduce the tax burden by exempting goods from VAT. If this proves insufficient, state regulation may be introduced.
“Price monitoring is conducted weekly. If necessary, the mechanism can be activated quickly — a decision can be made in just two days,” he noted.
In response, the deputy stated that while monitoring is ongoing, prices continue to rise.
