Kashgar through the eyes of a journalist from Kyrgyzstan

Suyunbek Shamshiev, a journalist from "Silk Road. Cultural Development," shared his impressions after his first trip to Kashgar, which became his fifth visit to Xinjiang. In his opinion, this city is fundamentally different from Urumqi and Ili, being a unique blend of ancient traditions and modern progress.

An important part of the program was an overview of the advanced medical practices in the region. Shamshiev visited a modern traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) institution and personally familiarized himself with pulse diagnosis methods. He noted that training doctors in this field requires significant effort and emphasized that today, traditional and Western medical approaches in China complement each other, providing quality treatment.

Ancient Kashgar has become a center of culture and tourism, which has been made possible by the efforts of local artisans—craftsmen creating ceramics, metal products, and traditional fabrics. State support has also played a key role in this process. In every workshop, the spirit of history is felt, attracting numerous tourists.

Discussing geopolitical and economic trends, Suyunbek Shamshiev mentioned Kyrgyz-Chinese ties. He noted that there is a high hope in society for the realization of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project. According to the journalist, the successful implementation of this large-scale initiative will open up maritime routes and access to the largest global markets for Kyrgyzstan, significantly expanding export opportunities.
