According to the National Statistics, the republic also has 23,751 donkeys, 11,290 rabbits, and 217 camels registered.
Regional structure and leaders in livestock increase
The Chui region ranks first in the number of poultry, accounting for about 40% of the total population. It is followed by the Jalal-Abad and Osh regions.
As for cattle, the largest number is found in the Osh region (22%), Jalal-Abad (21%), and Chui (17%). The Batken region shows the most significant growth in cattle population — by 2.6%.
The leaders in the number of sheep and goats are the Jalal-Abad region (22.5%), Naryn region (17.7%), and Osh region (17.3%). In the Chui region, the population of these animals increased by 4.6%, while in the Naryn region, there was a decrease of 0.8%.
The Naryn region is also the leader in the number of horses (26.3% of the total) and yaks (47.1%).
Livestock on remote farm facilities
A significant portion of livestock is kept on remote sites, such as winter pastures and shelters. In particular, 57% of pigs, 45% of poultry, and approximately 18% of horses are located on such facilities.
