- In Kyrgyzstan, farmers must adhere to the principles of crop rotation and use modern agricultural technologies to ensure stable yields. Bakyt Mambetov, the director of the seed production expertise department at the Ministry of Agriculture, shared this information on the radio.

He noted that crop rotation is a key agronomic practice that helps maintain soil fertility.

“Farmers must strictly follow crop rotation. We do not insist on a five-field system, but a three- or four-field rotation should be mandatory,” he added.

Mambetov specified that it is necessary to alternate agricultural crops. For example, after cereals, corn can be planted, then sugar beets, and after that, perennials, to give the soil time to recover.

He also emphasized the importance of winter plowing.

“Winter plowing allows moisture to accumulate in the soil and saturates it with oxygen. If plowing is done only in spring, the accumulated moisture quickly evaporates, and farmers have to wait for rain after sowing,” he explained.

This is especially relevant for cereal crops, according to Mambetov.

Additionally, he noted that the use of modern agricultural technologies is an important factor for increasing yields.

“Even if a farmer has certified seeds, if he does not use the correct agricultural technologies, he will not be able to achieve the expected yield,” he added.

Mambetov also noted that the ministry is interested in ensuring that farmers receive quality and high yields.
