He noted that the government compensates 30% of the price of seeds produced by local seed production enterprises.
“For example, if the seeds of the first reproduction cost 35 soms, then with the subsidy, the farmer can purchase them for 25-26 soms. The remaining 30% is reimbursed from the state budget to the seed production enterprise,” Mambetov explained.
According to him, this initiative is aimed at supporting seed production enterprises and providing farmers with quality planting materials at affordable prices.
Mambetov also added that interest in subsidized seeds among farmers is growing every year. Both the volume of seed sales and the number of farmers utilizing this support are increasing.
A representative of the ministry recommended that agrarians prefer certified seeds of the first or second reproduction, as this positively affects yield.
However, many farmers continue to use seeds obtained from their own harvest. In such cases, they are advised to conduct laboratory tests on the planting material.
“A farmer can send seeds for analysis to determine their germination, purity, and presence of diseases. This procedure is inexpensive, and the results are usually known within a week,” he added.
According to Mambetov, farmers are increasingly turning to laboratories for seed quality testing, which indicates a rise in their awareness and responsibility.
“We always remind agrarians: what you sow, you will reap. Therefore, it is important to know the quality of the seeds used for planting,” he concluded.
