
With the completion of negotiations between the Cabinet of Ministers and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the implementation of an ambitious project to concrete the western branch of the Large Chui Canal begins. This information was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev noted that the parties are at the stage of preparing the agreement.
Why is concreting necessary?
The current losses of irrigation water during transportation through the BChK amount to 50–55 percent due to the earthen channel. A significant portion of the water seeps into the soil before reaching the farmers.
