- In 2025, Kyrgyzstan increased its electricity consumption to 19.3 billion kWh, which is 900 million kWh more compared to 2024, according to information provided by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Of the total volume, 15.4 billion kWh was produced in the country, while 3.9 billion kWh was imported. This data was announced at a meeting dedicated to preparations for the autumn-winter season of 2025–2026, chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev.

The decrease in water inflow to the Toktogul Reservoir was also discussed, where the volume is 9.102 cubic meters, which is 1.631 cubic meters less compared to the same period in 2024. Experts warn that the water shortage may negatively affect electricity production, highlighting the importance of adhering to established consumption limits.

To successfully navigate the heating season, it is necessary to ensure a reserve of 3,174.792 thousand tons of coal. According to the Cabinet, coal and fuel oil are available in sufficient quantities, including reserves at thermal power plants in Bishkek and Osh.

Following the meeting, Bakyt Torobaev instructed to ensure stable electricity and heat supply for the population and social facilities, and also called for active work during the heating season.
