- The OSAGO policy provides protection against damage caused to third parties, while KASKO offers protection for the owner's vehicle, regardless of who is at fault in the accident. This information was announced by Aktan Turumbekov, the director of the insurance and reinsurance department of the State Insurance Organization JSC, during a radio broadcast.

According to Turumbekov, OSAGO covers the driver's liability to other road users.

“OSAGO is civil liability insurance. If the driver is found to be at fault in the accident, the insurance company compensates the injured party for damages to their property, as well as harm caused to life or health,” he explained.

However, it is worth noting that damage to the at-fault driver's own vehicle is not covered by this type of insurance.

In contrast to OSAGO, voluntary KASKO insurance provides protection specifically for the owner's vehicle.

“KASKO is personal property insurance. If the vehicle is damaged as a result of an accident, regardless of fault, or for other reasons, the owner has the right to receive insurance compensation,” Turumbekov added.

He also noted that KASKO covers a broader range of risks, including damage to the vehicle due to accidents, actions of third parties, falling objects, and many other situations, which, in turn, affects the cost of the policy.
