Chairman of the National Statistics Committee Kudaibergenov participated in the 57th session of the UN Statistical Commission

From March 3 to 6 of this year, Baktybek Kudaybergenov, head of the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, participated in the 57th session of the UN Statistical Commission.

This event annually brings together leaders of statistical services from over 190 countries and representatives of international organizations.

Key aspects of the development of modern statistical methods were discussed at the session, including:

digital transformation in statistical production,
the use of administrative and alternative sources of information,
improvement of the national accounts system,
development of statistics in health and agriculture,
monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic emphasized the importance of socio-demographic statistics for creating effective public policy and improving the quality of management decisions.


System of National Accounts 2025

The Kyrgyz delegation confirmed its readiness for the phased implementation of the System of National Accounts 2025 (SNA-2025) and expressed interest in international methodological and technical support.

During the discussion on agricultural statistics, it was also mentioned that a national agricultural census is planned in Kyrgyzstan using electronic data collection tools and geospatial technologies.

Currently, the national statistical system of Kyrgyzstan monitors 217 indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals, data on which is available on the national platform.

On March 4, 2026, in New York, within the framework of the 57th session of the UN Statistical Commission, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

This document aims to create a foundation for effective cooperation in various areas of statistics, including the implementation of electronic data collection. Currently, the National Statistical Committee actively uses Serbian software (AIS IST). The memorandum also provides for the exchange of statistical information, best practices, and professional knowledge, as well as assistance in strengthening statistical capacity and developing national statistical systems of both countries.
