Pahlavi also noted that he is preparing to return to his homeland to support the people of Iran in their struggle for freedom, claiming that the victory of the national revolution is near. In recent days, protests triggered by a sharp decline in the national currency and nearly 50% inflation have spread across many cities. According to human rights activists, at least 65 people have died in the clashes, including 15 security personnel and 50 protesters, while about 2,300 demonstrators have been detained.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced on January 10 its intention to suppress all demonstrations. The Tasnim agency reported the arrest of 100 "armed insurgents" in the Baharestan area, located near Tehran. According to Reuters, the Iranian army opened fire on protesters in the west of the country.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his readiness to support the protesters in Iran in a message on the social network TruthSocial, noting that Iran may be more eager for freedom than ever before. He had previously stated that the U.S. could intervene if the authorities began firing on peaceful demonstrators.

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham expressed support for the Iranian people amid the protests, emphasizing that their courage has been noticed by Trump and everyone who values freedom. He also noted that Trump's slogan "Make Iran Great Again" implies the victory of the protesters over the Ayatollah regime, as Iran cannot be great under the rule of a religious government.

The Trump administration is discussing various scenarios for potential strikes on Iran if necessary, including large-scale air operations against several military sites in the country.
