The Ministry reported that to attract experienced contractors, the project was divided into three lots. As a result of international tenders, contractors were selected for all areas:
- Lots No. 1 and No. 2 — consortium DEC–SM (People's Republic of China / Republic of Korea);
- Lot No. 3 — company Sinohydro Bureau 16 (People's Republic of China).
In 2025, as part of the preparations for the commissioning of the second hydro unit at Kambar-Ata HPP-2, the following activities were carried out:
Field meetings were held to coordinate the actions of all contractors and consultants.
Preparatory work and planning of the main construction sites were completed, including areas for equipment installation, office, and temporary living quarters.
Concrete work was completed to create foundations for the offices and residential buildings of the contracting organizations, which provided conditions for the permanent residence of employees.
The installation of metal structures for office and residential buildings began, including load-bearing elements and roofs.
In collaboration with design organizations, a technical inspection of the water pipeline for hydro unit No. 2 and the compensator for hydro unit No. 1 was conducted.
Preparatory work began for the transition to the main stage of construction and installation of the second hydro unit.
