At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 4, deputy Zhanibek Abirov raised the issue of low wages for junior service and technical staff in educational institutions.

During his visit to schools in the Lenin District of Bishkek a week ago, the deputy spoke with the staff of secondary school No. 74. He reminded that in his speech at the kurultai on December 25, President Sadyr Japarov announced plans to increase teachers' salaries starting in April.

Although the school staff expressed gratitude for the decision to raise salaries for educators, Abirov emphasized the difficult situation regarding the salaries of technical and junior service personnel, including cleaners, janitors, kitchen workers, as well as staff responsible for the safety and technical condition of the school.

According to him, the salary of junior service and technical staff is only 8,448 soms with a coefficient of 1.20. A secretary earns 8,800 soms, while the head of the household earns 12,320 soms. The deputy stressed that in the context of inflation and rising prices in Bishkek, it is extremely difficult to survive on an amount of about 8,500–9,000 soms.

Abirov asked whether there are plans to increase salaries for technical and junior service personnel starting in April. If this does not happen, he suggested conveying the citizens' opinions to the Cabinet of Ministers and considering the possibility of increasing their salaries or revising the wage coefficients.
