According to her, educators sent a request to the Minister of Education, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, proposing to align the coefficients used for the salaries of history teachers with those of primary school teachers and teachers of natural sciences.
The request highlights the special role of the subject "History" in society. Teachers pointed out that primary school lays the foundation of knowledge, while history lessons develop students' national consciousness and strengthen their civic position.
Additionally, educators noted that they perform a significant amount of analytical work when preparing and conducting classes: they work with archival materials and analyze current geopolitical processes.
The authors of the request believe that in the current salary system, higher coefficients are established for certain subjects, while the work of teachers in the humanities is valued lower, which they consider unfair. In this regard, they requested that the new regulations ensure equal pay conditions for history teachers—on par with primary school teachers and those in natural sciences.
The Ministry of Education reported that negotiations are underway with the Ministry of Finance regarding the equalization of salary coefficients for history and primary school teachers.
Furthermore, the ministry reminded that according to the initiative announced by the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, at the IV People's Kurultai, starting from April 1, 2026, the salaries of pedagogical and other employees of educational organizations will be increased by 100%.
