Starting from January 28, 2026, temporary restrictions on the import of animals and animal products from India have come into effect in Kyrgyzstan. This decision was made by the veterinary service, livestock development, pastures, and feed department due to the threat of the spread of the Nipah virus. The information was disseminated by the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

These measures were introduced in response to an outbreak of the Nipah virus in India to ensure veterinary and sanitary safety in the country.

Citizens are strongly advised to avoid purchasing animal products without proper veterinary accompanying documents.

The veterinary service continues to closely monitor the situation.
