At a meeting initiated by the Kyrgyz side, the Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Seytek Jumakadyrov uulu, discussed current issues of bilateral consular cooperation with Kate Collins, head of the consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to recent changes in the visa policy of the United States. The Kyrgyz side emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue on visa issues to develop mutually acceptable solutions.

The American side also raised questions regarding the compliance with visa regulations by citizens of Kyrgyzstan and expressed readiness for further discussions, as noted by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan expressed concern that the new requirements could negatively impact the travel of citizens of both countries, which in turn could lead to a decrease in business and tourist contacts, complicating the development of trade and economic cooperation.

Since January 21 of this year, a mandatory refundable deposit ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 has been introduced for citizens of Kyrgyzstan applying for non-immigrant visas of categories B1 (business trips) and B2 (tourism).
