The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jeenbek Kulubaev, stated at a press conference that the department is actively negotiating to reduce the deposit required for obtaining a visa to the USA.

He noted that the amount of $15,000 is excessive compared to salaries in Kyrgyzstan. "This is quite a high price. We have already expressed our wishes to the American side, and they have taken our position into account. Negotiations are ongoing," he added.

Kulubaev also mentioned that this decision by the American side is related to the fact that many young citizens of Kyrgyzstan remain in the USA after their visas expire. In this regard, the possibility of introducing a similar regime for both countries is being discussed.

Addressing the migration policy of the USA, the minister emphasized that this is an internal matter for each country, and it is impossible for other states to influence it.

According to the minister, there are about 40,000 Kyrgyz citizens living in the USA. "Individuals who violate migration legislation may be deported if identified by migration services. Previously, about 20 people were deported, and it is expected that another 20 will be deported soon," he commented.

Jeenbek Kulubaev emphasized that the main requirement of the American side is compliance with migration norms and laws.

We remind you that starting from January 21, 2026, citizens of Kyrgyzstan are required to pay a refundable deposit ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 when applying for non-immigrant visas of category B-1 (business trips) and B-2 (tourism) to the USA.
