At a press conference held on January 15 in Bishkek, Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev stated that his department does not have data on the exact number of Kyrgyz citizens participating in the conflict on the side of Ukraine against Russia.

According to the minister, information about the involvement of Kyrgyz citizens in military actions mainly comes from their relatives and close ones.

He noted: "There is a law that can impose penalties for illegal participation in the war, so many citizens prefer not to report their involvement. Nevertheless, they may be dying. Relatives often say: 'He left at such and such a time, and nothing more is known,' and cannot provide a complete picture. If a person's death is confirmed, we provide assistance through our embassy in Ukraine. But many people are afraid to talk about it. We have certain predictive estimates, but there is no exact data," the minister added.
