Deputy Daniyar Tolonov reported that 385 houses in the rural district of Savay in the Kara-Suu region have become uninhabitable due to rising water levels. At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh held on February 4, he noted that the problem began to arise back in 1985 when water levels started to rise. In 1988, drainage systems were built; however, they are now clogged and non-functional, which has led to houses in the villages of Kyzyl-Shak, Ken-Sai, Kydyrsha, Kurban-Kara, and Kesken-Sai becoming uninhabitable.

“Agricultural land covering 630 hectares has turned into swamps and has become overgrown with reeds. Nevertheless, local residents continue to pay land taxes. New drainage systems are needed to dry out the plots so that farmers can cultivate agricultural products. An investment of 500 million soms could help with this,” emphasized Tolonov.

He urged the cabinet of ministers to either engage in the construction of drainage systems or provide citizens with alternative land plots. Otherwise, in his opinion, owners should be exempt from paying taxes.
