In Russia, the world's first museum of cosmonautics has presented plans for 2026

The State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics named after K.E. Tsiolkovsky, located in Kaluga, has announced its plans for 2026. This year, the museum, considered the cradle of cosmonautics, will present more than 30 different projects that combine achievements in science, art, and modern technologies.

Kaluga, known as the birthplace of theoretical cosmonautics, will become an important center for researchers and tourists. In this museum, where the first stone was laid with the participation of Yuri Gagarin, exhibitions will cover humanity's journey from the first sketches of airships to the latest drone technologies.

One of the most significant events will be the exhibition "So That Others May Live...", dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Air Force's search and rescue service. Guests will be able to see unique exhibits, including a full-size model of the descent vehicle and a backup parachute from the "Soyuz" spacecraft, as well as rare videos of rescue operations conducted in the Arctic.

In honor of the 65th anniversary of the "Vostok-2" flight, the museum will host a personal exhibition "German Titov - 'Eagle' Takes to the Sky." Here, personal belongings of the second cosmonaut and archival documents will be presented, allowing a new perspective on his historic feat—he was the first to spend a full day in space.

The museum will also present the project "Bring It On! Airship!", showcasing rare materials about the "golden age" of Soviet aeronautics, including fragments of the shell of a metal airship that Konstantin Tsiolkovsky dreamed of.

The synthesis of science and art will be presented in several exhibitions:

"Camera! Action! Let's Fly!" — in collaboration with the Museum of Cinema, the museum will show how the image of pilots and cosmonauts has changed in films, from children's cartoons to modern dramas about the sky.

"Hero of the Russian Land" — an exhibition of decorative and applied arts will demonstrate the evolution of the image of the defender of the Fatherland, from epic heroes to modern conquerors of space.

For technology enthusiasts, an interactive area "Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" will open in Kaluga, where visitors will be able not only to see the latest drone but also to try their hand as an operator in a special flight zone.

In addition to the exhibitions in the main building, the museum will also go on tour in 2026. Traveling exhibitions dedicated to the legacy of scientist Alexander Chizhevsky and the history of Soviet space will be available to residents of cities such as Tambov, Sergiev Posad, Bryansk, and others.

According to the museum's management, such a diverse program is aimed not only at preserving historical memory but also at inspiring a new generation of researchers who may, tomorrow, embark on journeys to new worlds from this "space harbor" in Kaluga.
