The increase in the number of cases is associated with improved diagnostics
A national conference dedicated to the development of pediatric oncology was held in Bishkek. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.
The conference was attended by Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev, representatives of the Jogorku Kenesh, international organizations, as well as heads of specialized medical institutions and the medical expert community.
During the meeting, the results of the pediatric oncology service were summarized after Kyrgyzstan joined the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer.
According to the ministry, about 200-220 new cases of childhood cancer are registered in the country each year. The increase in the number of detected cases in recent years is explained by improvements in diagnostics, the introduction of clinical protocols, and the development of the national cancer registry.
In his speech, Bakytbek Kadyraliev emphasized the importance of implementing new treatment methods. He stressed that the development of pediatric oncology is not just a matter of reputation, but a matter of saving lives.
According to him, the state must create a sustainable treatment system that will not depend on charitable donations.
Among the priority tasks are reducing the number of cases where patients are forced to go abroad for treatment, increasing the volume of high-tech assistance in the country, and strengthening international cooperation.
