Colleagues of the detained nephrologist from the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, Nasira Beishebayeva, held a press conference in her defense.

The chief physician of the NCМCH, Aina Jetibaeva, expressed condolences to the family of the affected girl and outlined the main details of the treatment. "The girl was hospitalized on October 11, 2024, in the nephrology department upon referral from a group of family doctors with a preliminary diagnosis of "glomerulonephritis". She exhibited symptoms such as facial and body swelling, as well as the presence of fluid in the abdominal cavity - anasarca," she noted.

Jetibaeva added that all necessary diagnostic and therapeutic measures were taken from the first day of treatment. "On the third day of hospitalization, the diagnosis of 'acute glomerulonephritis with nephrotic syndrome in the active stage' was confirmed. On the eighteenth day of treatment at our center, partial remission was achieved. On November 11, Doppler ultrasound revealed thrombosis of the arteries and veins in the popliteal region of the right leg. From November 14 to 21, we continued examinations and treatment recommended by vascular surgeons from the National Hospital and a private clinic. We also conducted online consultations with colleagues from St. Petersburg and Moscow. All experts emphasized the need for a combined operation and conducted conservative therapy. One of the reasons for thrombosis was considered to be the severe course of nephrotic syndrome and the previous COVID-19," she added.

Analysis data confirmed the presence of thrombophilia, indicating genetic changes in the homeostasis system.

On November 21, an extended council meeting took place at the National Hospital, attended by all vascular surgeons, representatives of the Ministry of Health, relatives of the girl, and the patient herself.

"At the council, it was decided to continue conservative treatment. On November 23, a decision was made to perform an amputation of the right leg at the thigh level; however, the parents refused this operation. At the request of the relatives, the girl was transferred to Turkey on November 25. Unfortunately, her condition did not improve after the operation, and part of her leg was amputated," explained the chief physician.

According to Jetibaeva, a complaint was filed with the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) by the girl's mother, and this case became the subject of an internal investigation by the Ministry of Health, as well as a forensic medical examination. She emphasized that Beishebayeva, who has been a practicing physician for 30 years, has established herself as a highly qualified specialist and researcher.

"In this case, it is impossible to speak of negligence or a crime. These are the consequences of the underlying disease. As I mentioned, COVID-19 led to severe complications. Such situations sometimes arise in medicine, and this was not dependent on Nasira Adylbekovna. We appealed to various authorities and held numerous councils, but unfortunately, it turned out this way," she noted.

The chief physician added that due to the nephrologist's detention, the planned kidney transplant at the center is now in question. To date, 80 organ transplants have been performed at the NCМCH. The last patient who underwent surgery requires corrective therapy, for which Beishebayeva was responsible. Medical professionals again appealed to the court for the release of the nephrologist under house arrest.

Recall that on February 18, a nephrologist, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Nasira Beishebayeva was detained in Bishkek. The Bishkek Department of Internal Affairs explained that a possible medical error leading to the amputation of the right lower limb occurred while she was undergoing treatment in 2024, according to the girl's mother.

A criminal case has been initiated against the physician under part 2 of Article 146 "Improper performance of professional duties by a medical or pharmaceutical worker, resulting in serious harm through negligence" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The suspect has been charged, detained, and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek Department of Internal Affairs.

The staff of the NCМCH published a video appeal to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, on social media, requesting a comprehensive and objective investigation of the case. The doctors also called for a measure of restraint for Beishebayeva that is not related to arrest.

The Minister of Health, Kanaybek Dosmambetov, emphasized the importance of an objective and impartial consideration of all circumstances of the case.
