Ministry of Health: It is unacceptable to conceal doctors' violations, but pursuing medical professionals is also not allowed
A nephrologist from the National Center for Maternal and Child Health in Bishkek was detained on suspicion of negligence that led to the amputation of a minor patient's leg. In this regard, the Ministry of Health issued an official comment.
“The Ministry of Health insists on the necessity of upholding the rule of law, protecting the rights of both patients and medical workers, as well as ensuring a fair legal assessment based on facts and professional expertise,” the agency noted.
Health Minister Kanaybek Dosmambetov, upon receiving information about the incident, immediately contacted the relevant state authorities. He emphasized the importance of a comprehensive and impartial examination of all circumstances of the case, taking into account medical and expert opinions, as well as the application of a preventive measure that does not involve deprivation of liberty.
The ministry highlighted the need to maintain a balance: on one hand, it is unacceptable to conceal violations, while on the other hand, there should be no unwarranted prosecution of medical professionals. Final decisions on each case should be made based on facts, evidence, and independent medical examinations,” the agency added.
It is worth noting that on February 18, a nephrologist, B.N., was detained in Bishkek. According to the Main Internal Affairs Directorate, the mother of the teenager filed a complaint with the police, claiming that improper treatment led to the amputation of her daughter's leg.
The staff of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health recorded a video appeal to the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, calling for an objective investigation of this case. The medical professionals also request a preventive measure for the doctor that is not related to detention.
