The city of Jalal-Abad was renamed last year
In Kyrgyzstan, the possibility of returning the historical name to the city of Manas is actively being discussed. This was reported by lawyer Nurbek Toktakunov on his social media page.
He poses the question: "Isn't it time to return the city its historical name?"
It is worth reminding that the city of Jalal-Abad was renamed in September 2025. The city's mayor, Ernis Ormokeev, stated that the initiative came from "some citizens."
The city had its previous name, with minor changes, since 1870.
