“We really use clean water with huge waste”
Daiyrbek Orunbekov, head of the information policy service of the president's administration, expressed support for the initiative of the deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Tabyldy Muratbekov, to raise water tariffs.
In his opinion, the words of the MP are correct.
“Let’s be honest: we really use clean water wastefully, and this happens because it is practically free. I see people every day who, while washing their faces, leave the water running, simply looking in the mirror. You probably have noticed similar behavior too. During shaving, rarely does anyone turn off the tap — this is everyday wastefulness in every home,” Orunbekov noted.
He also added that many use clean drinking water for watering gardens and other household needs, while in some countries of the world, people suffer from a lack of even a drop of water. “We all understand that in the future, the problem with water resources may become global,” he emphasized.
Daiyrbek Orunbekov pointed out that current expenses for maintaining water systems are not covered.
“Before criticizing the deputy who raised the issue of tariffs, each of us should learn to use water economically. Our ancestors said: ‘Whoever respects water will be great, and whoever does not value it will be humiliated,’” he added.
Let us remind you that Deputy Tabyldy Muratbekov proposed to increase the tariffs for drinking water in Kyrgyzstan to 36.99 soms, which he characterized as a “minor” increase.
