Daiyrbek Orunbekov, who holds the position of head of the information policy department of the President's Administration of Kyrgyzstan, commented on the proposal by MP Tabyldy Muratbekov regarding the increase in tariffs for clean water. This initiative has faced criticism from some citizens.

In Orunbekov's opinion, the deputy is generally right in his reasoning.

“Let’s be honest: we are indeed wasting clean water with enormous losses. This happens because it is almost free. It is often seen that people leave the water running while washing their faces, simply looking in the mirror. You probably notice this every day. During shaving, many don’t even turn off the tap — this is a wastefulness that can be observed in every household,” he noted.

Many people use drinking water for watering gardens and other household needs. At the same time, there are regions in the world where people experience a severe shortage of even a drop of water. “The problem of water supply could become one of the global issues in the future,” added Daiyrbek Orunbekov.

He also emphasized that even without considering these factors, the costs of maintaining the water supply system, which should serve every household, are currently unjustified.

“Before criticizing the deputy who raised the issue of tariffs, we all should learn to use water sparingly. As our ancestors said: ‘Who respects water will be great, and who does not value it will be humiliated,’” he concluded.

Recall that Tabyldy Muratbekov proposed to increase tariffs for drinking water in Kyrgyzstan. According to him, the average cost across the country may rise by about 14.38 soms per cubic meter, leading to a final price of 36.99 soms.
