A meeting chaired by the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev took place with the participation of deputies and representatives of crisis centers, as well as state institutions. This was reported by the press service of the parliament.
During the meeting, current issues regarding the functioning of crisis centers were discussed, including financial matters and methods of addressing them.
Representatives of crisis centers noted that the main problem is funding. Last year, 28 million soms were allocated to support centers helping women affected by domestic violence and gender-based violence, but this year the amount has decreased to 15 million soms.
The Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration explained that the budget reduction is related to the fact that not all allocated funds were used last year. Nevertheless, representatives of crisis centers claim that delays in reviewing proposed projects lead to problems in obtaining funding.
Marlen Mamataliyev emphasized that in recent years, thanks to the president's initiatives, the state has been paying increased attention to the social sphere. He noted that active work is being done to prevent gender-based violence, protect the rights of women and children, and strengthen the institution of family.
According to him, it is necessary to continue this work and enhance cooperation between state institutions and crisis centers. "Last year, 18,254 cases of domestic violence were registered, while there are only 17 crisis centers operating in the country. We need to increase their number to cover all regions," the Speaker stated.
At the end of the meeting, Mamataliyev instructed state institutions to analyze all the raised issues and take necessary measures.
He added: "If necessary, we will make changes to the legislation. Our task is not only to discuss problems but also to find solutions. We need a comprehensive approach and prompt measures."
It was also emphasized that the Jogorku Kenesh will closely monitor compliance with legislation in this area.
