Turmush continues to introduce readers to Kyrgyzstani individuals who have found their calling beyond their homeland.

Umut Tabaldievna Mamytova, residing in Russia, has demonstrated incredible work ethic and now manages her own private clinic, having journeyed from a simple migrant to a doctor.

Umut, born on April 12, 1989, in Osh, is a mother of five sons and a wife. “My father, Tabaldy, worked as a teacher at Osh State University and, unfortunately, passed away in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My mother, a teacher by profession, is now retired and manages the household. I am the eldest of two children; my brother, Joomat, graduated from Osh State Institute last year and is currently continuing his studies in residency. I hope he becomes an excellent doctor,” Umut shared.

Umut talked about how she managed to combine her work as a doctor and a taxi driver. “In 2015, I moved to St. Petersburg due to difficult life circumstances. Like many, I started with an ordinary migrant job: as a cashier in a small cafe-soup kitchen, then in stores and at a shawarma place. I submitted documents for diploma recognition and took exams. At the same time, I worked part-time doing cleaning. One day, I decided to try my hand at taxi driving and contacted a taxi park. They immediately handed me the keys to a car and connected me to the line.

Imagine a huge city with unfamiliar streets. That same day, I took my first passenger and started working with the help of a navigator. After my documents were ready and my diploma was recognized in Russia, I began sending out resumes. Soon I received a call from a website, was invited for an interview, and got the job. I worked from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, but did not leave taxi driving as I still had free time. Thus, I combined these two professions for over two years. I am grateful to fate for everything. Now I have my own clinic where I see various patients. When I see young women with cysts, fibroids, polycystic ovary syndrome, or infertility, as well as those coming for abortions, it weighs heavily on my heart. If someone cannot afford treatment, we try to help them for free,” she said.

Umut actively participates in various events. “I have many plans for the future. I want to work in Kyrgyzstan, to be closer to my family and friends. In my free time, I love to sing and am passionate about music. In 2015, I visited Turkey, but instead of resting, I brought goods for sale. Now we are planning a trip to Thailand for the New Year,” Umut shared.
