This sapphire, named "Star of Pure Land," is the largest registered natural purple star sapphire in the world.
Gemologist Ashan Amarasinghe noted that this stone possesses a unique six-rayed asterism, making it particularly attractive and distinct from others.
The polished stone is owned by the Star of Pure Land Team, whose members preferred to remain anonymous for safety reasons. One of the owners stated that the sapphire was found in 2023 near Ratnapura, located in the southwest of Sri Lanka.
