FIFA recorded record demand for tickets for the 2026 World Cup

In the third phase of ticket sales for the 2026 World Cup, FIFA recorded over 150 million requests from fans. Interest in the tournament spanned more than 200 countries, leading to a demand for tickets that exceeded their availability by about 30 times.

This phase of ticket sales will conclude on January 13. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized that the upcoming championship will be the most significant event in the history of the football world, noting that the high interest confirms the global popularity of football.

In response to criticism from fans, FIFA revised its pricing policy. The European Football Fans Association (FSE) criticized the initially set prices and called for a halt to sales. For example, the cost of a package for all matches of one's national team up to the final reached $6,900, significantly exceeding last year's prices for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

After the changes, some tickets became available at prices starting from $60, and the minimum total cost of a package for all matches up to the final was set at $4,185.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in three countries: the USA, Mexico, and Canada. The tournament is scheduled to open on June 11, and the final will be held on July 19.
