In a podcast by the "Kabar" agency, the Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, highlighted the solution to the waste disposal problem as one of the significant achievements of 2025. The mayor noted that the construction of a waste recycling plant had remained unresolved for many years, despite the adoption of various resolutions. Previous attempts to address this issue had resulted in criminal cases and arrests of officials.
He also recalled the unsuccessful use of 22 million euros in previous years, when the funds were spent inefficiently. "This time, Bishkek did not allocate a single penny from its budget for construction. We attracted an investor who invested 95 million dollars in the creation of the plant," Junushaliev stated.
As of today, the new plant has already managed to recycle 49 thousand tons of waste. The mayor also shared plans for the reclamation of the old landfill. During the opening of the plant, President Sadyr Japarov discussed with the general director the possibility of eliminating long-standing waste accumulations, the so-called "garbage mountain." The general director confirmed that there is a technical possibility to recycle these deposits, and work in this direction will begin soon.
In addition to this, the mayor emphasized that thanks to one plant, three additional plants have also been built and launched.
