Aibek Junushaliev, the mayor of Bishkek, shared that he is currently living in an apartment purchased through a government mortgage program. He mentioned this in a podcast with the Kabar agency.
According to him, before taking the mayoral position, he continued to commute from Kant to work every day for six months.
“One day I was late for a meeting with the management, and I was told that it takes half an hour to get anywhere in the city. I explained that I come from Kant every day,” the mayor recounted.
As a result of this conversation, it was decided to provide him with official housing in Bishkek. However, as Junushaliev noted, he is currently living in a mortgage apartment and is making mortgage payments.
Additionally, he reported that he sold his house in Kant and completely moved to Bishkek.
