In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, two suspects have been detained for pickpocketing a large sum of money. This information was announced by the press service of the Bishkek City Police Department.

On January 8, a local resident reported to the Lenin District Police Department about the theft of her wallet on minibus No. 161, which was traveling along Nekrasov Street, near the intersection with Leo Tolstoy Street. As a result of the crime, the perpetrators seized 595,000 soms, $400, and jewelry worth about 100,000 soms.

In connection with this incident, a criminal case was initiated under the article "Theft" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the City Police detained two men, Sh. M. and Zh. A., born in 1985, at the "Sary-Özön" market during operational activities. Both had previously been convicted of serious crimes. They were placed in a temporary detention facility, and later the Lenin District Court chose to remand them in custody in pre-trial detention center No. 1.

During a search of their Daewoo Nexia vehicle, jewelry belonging to the victim was found and seized.

Law enforcement agencies discovered that on that day, the suspects specifically boarded a minibus heading to the "Dordoy" market, selecting their victim based on her appearance.

“Being experienced pickpockets, they were able to determine that the woman was likely working at the specified market and committed the theft. After that, they returned to their car in a Mercedes Transit taxi, paying for the ride with 1,000 soms from the previously stolen funds,” the City Police Department added.

The investigation is ongoing.
