
Beckbolotov Bekten Tursunbekovich, Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, participated in the online conference on food security in the context of climate change. The event titled "Health and Nutrition in a Changing Climate" took place in Ashgabat, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture.
As Kyrgyzstan is among the countries highly vulnerable to climate change, issues of food security, as well as health and nutrition, are top priorities that require an intersectoral approach. The conference emphasized the implementation of the One Health concept, as well as the development of sustainable agri-food systems and strengthening regional cooperation.
Participants noted that the regulatory framework in the field of food security has significantly improved in the country, and the State Program for Food Security and Nutrition is currently being implemented. More than 80% of schools provide hot meals for students.
Kyrgyzstan expressed its readiness for further cooperation with international partners to jointly respond to climate challenges and to sustainably improve the health and nutrition of the population.
