Boto Kuronkee from the village of Togolok, located in the Ak-Talinsky district of the Naryn region, is actively engaged in camel breeding, which has become increasingly rare in Kyrgyzstan in recent years. This is reported by the Ministry of Water Management and Agriculture.

According to the ministry, the tradition of camel breeding has been passed down in Boto's family from generation to generation. His father started this business back in the 1980s, and now his son continues the work.

“Although camel breeding requires significant effort, these animals are well adapted to the harsh conditions of the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. They can go without water for up to 40 days, withstand temperatures as low as -40 degrees in winter and as high as +50 degrees in summer. Additionally, camels provide meat and milk throughout the year, making them important for agriculture,” the ministry's statement notes.

The farmer is taking active steps to expand camel breeding, distributing animals not only throughout the Naryn region but also to other regions of the country. Plans also include importing new mountain breeds of camels from Mongolia.

According to available data, an adult male camel can provide up to 400-500 kilograms of meat. There is also a demand for camel wool, from which various products are made: from clothing to blankets and items with medicinal properties that are sold.

These initiatives contribute to the revival of nearly forgotten traditions of camel breeding in the country, as well as the diversification of the livestock sector.
