The formation of a culture for both celebrations and memorials in Kyrgyzstan has become an important aspect of public and national discourse. This was reported by Arslan Koichiev, the state secretary, during the broadcast of the program "Elden Sobol" on the "Kabar" agency.

Koichiev emphasized that Kyrgyz society is closely tied to traditions and customs, making it impossible to abandon them rapidly.

“Changing traditions is a process that requires time and caution. We are in a society where customs occupy a central place, shaping our identity as a nation. They are an integral part of our national character,” he noted.

“A key point is the active participation of society in discussing such issues. I am convinced that we need to use the current situation to achieve public consensus. If we can find common ground, it will be a testament to the maturity of our society,” Koichiev added.

In his opinion, the draft resolution being discussed at the public level should involve as many participants as possible—from ordinary citizens to experts in the field.

“If this step leads to an improvement in national culture, it will be beneficial for everyone. It is important that public figures, ordinary people, and, if necessary, philosophers and sociologists participate in the discussion. The modernization of Kyrgyz traditions has been occurring throughout the 20th century and continues in the 21st century. I hope that we can resolve this issue through consensus, avoiding extremes and pressure,” he added.

Let us remind you that the cabinet of ministers has initiated a discussion of a draft resolution aimed at limiting extravagance during celebrations and memorials.
