At a meeting of the Committee on International Affairs of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova proposed an initiative to revoke parental rights of migrants who leave their children in the care of relatives.

According to the parliamentarian, migration affects not only adults but also their children. According to the provided data, 750 children are under guardianship, and most of them are raised by relatives.

Kozhokulova noted that there are many cases of violence against migrant children, often perpetrated by their guardians. These incidents go unnoticed and can be latent in nature. She emphasized that violence against young children negatively impacts their mental health and future.

The deputy called for a discussion on the possibility of revoking parental rights for those migrants who leave and abandon their children without supervision.

She also raised questions about how the prosecutor's office and other state agencies identify and investigate such cases, as well as about the measures of accountability for parents who leave their minor children in the care of relatives.

Deputy Attorney General Umutkan Konkubayeva responded that issues related to this are under the jurisdiction of social protection agencies, but the prosecutor's office continues to exercise oversight.
