The First Mai District Court of Bishkek has sanctioned the detention of five prominent politicians, who will remain in custody at detention center No. 1 until April 10. This decision is related to a case that arose after a group of public figures appealed to the country's government.
The list of those arrested includes individuals who have held high positions at various historical periods:
Kursan Asanov — former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs; Bekbolot Talgarbekov — leader of the "People's Parliament"; Aaly Karashev — ex-deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh; Emilbek Uzakbaev — former diplomat who represented Kyrgyzstan in Uzbekistan; Kurmanbek Dyykanbaev — former authorized representative of the president in parliament.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the actions of the detainees are classified as preparation for organizing mass riots.
This event was a consequence of the publication of an open letter on February 9, in which 75 individuals — including former prime ministers, academicians, and ex-deputies — called for extraordinary elections. Law enforcement agencies saw this appeal as incitement capable of destabilizing the socio-political situation and provoking public discontent.
