Toktorbaev took office as mayor on January 23 of last year. He turned 58 years old on February 14. Prior to this, he was a deputy of the VII convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh from the "Ata-Jurt Kyrgyzstan" party.

In December of last year, he was awarded the "Dostyk" order of the Republic of Uzbekistan for his contribution to the development of interstate relations.
Zhenishbek Toktorbaev studied with the former head of the State Committee for National Security, Kamchybek Tashiev. Although official sources do not link these personnel changes, political circles suggest that it may not be a coincidence.
Information about a new appointment to the position of mayor of Osh is expected.
