A significant event dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day was held in Bishkek, organized by the Russian Embassy. The celebration gathered representatives of the diplomatic corps, military personnel, veterans, public figures, and guests of the capital. Participants were presented with a concert program featuring dances and musical performances, creating an atmosphere of respect for military service and shared historical memory.
The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kyrgyzstan, Sergey Vakunov, shared with the publication VB.KG that this event has become a tradition for the embassy and is held annually.
"This event has already become traditional for our embassy and is dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day. Judging by the guests' reactions and the number of attendees, we can see that this holiday is also highly valued and respected by our good friends from the Kyrgyz Republic," the ambassador noted.
He added that the reason for this respect for defenders lies in the long shared history, the joint Victory in the Great Patriotic War, as well as the fact that in both countries, the title of defender of the homeland is considered extremely honorable.
Sergey Vakunov recalled the famous film "Officers," where the well-known phrase is heard: "There is such a profession - to defend the Motherland!" "We see that here this calling is also respected, and many come with joy to celebrate this important holiday for all of us," he concluded.
