In the Kyrgyz Republic, work during studies may count towards the experience of teachers and medical workers

At a recent parliamentary meeting, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva proposed to consider the work experience of students who work in state educational and medical institutions.

She noted that students studying on a budget basis in the fields of education and healthcare are forced to combine their studies with work in public schools and hospitals due to a shortage of staff. These students sign official employment contracts and receive work books, fulfilling full job responsibilities.

However, according to her, the time spent working while studying is not counted towards the mandatory two-year experience, which the deputy considers unfair.

Surabaldiyeva emphasizes that if a student is officially employed in a public school or medical institution, this period should be counted as part of their work experience and mandatory service time. She is confident that such an initiative will help reduce the staff shortage, support young specialists, and create stability in the fields of education and healthcare.
