The population of snow leopards in Kyrgyzstan has exceeded 550 individuals

At the meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on agrarian policy, ecology, and environmental protection, Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, reported that the population of snow leopards in Kyrgyzstan exceeds 550 individuals.

She noted that the snow leopard is now officially recognized as the national symbol of the country, and its logo and usage rules have been approved.

In addition, a National Action Plan for the Conservation of the Snow Leopard has been developed in the republic, which will last until 2030, and an ecological corridor "Ak Ilbirs" has been created.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the measures taken have contributed to the increase in the population of snow leopards in the territory of the republic.
