China will eliminate import duties on all goods from Africa

The People's Republic of China is taking significant steps to strengthen its interaction with the African continent. At a press conference on March 8, held in Beijing during the session of the National People's Congress, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and China's Foreign Minister, announced the introduction of unprecedented trade benefits for African countries. This decision was made against the backdrop of upcoming visits by African leaders to China and as part of the Year of Humanitarian Exchanges.

Starting May 1, China plans to eliminate import duties on all goods from African countries. "We will use a subtraction approach in customs duties to promote trade growth and improve people's well-being," noted Minister Wang Yi.

He also emphasized that over 70 years of friendship between China and Africa, the countries have overcome many difficulties, and the PRC intends to leverage its vast market to support economic growth on the African continent.
