
In the second reading, the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh approved the reform of the Central Election Commission
On April 8, the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh supported the bill concerning the reduction of the number of members of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums. According to the new provisions, the composition of the commission will be reduced from twelve to eight members. Half of them will be appointed by the Jogorku Kenesh upon the proposal of the president, and the other half at their discretion.
The commission will be considered operational if it has at least six members. The first meeting will be conducted by the oldest member of the commission.
The chairman of the Central Election Commission will be elected by voting, with the requirement that more than half of the total number of members must vote for him.
