The Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh approved the bill on reducing the number of members of the CEC in the second reading
Today, the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, State Structure, Local Self-Government, and the Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh discussed bills concerning amendments to the law "On the Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic" and a draft constitutional law that amends the law "On the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums of the Kyrgyz Republic" in the second reading.

The initiators of the bills were deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh: Marlen Mamataliyev, Talant Mamytov, Akylbek Tumonbaev, Dastanbek Jumabekov, Nurbek Sydygaliev, and Talaybek Masabirov.

Deputy Nurbek Sydygaliev, presenting the bills, pointed out the need to optimize the composition and improve the procedure for forming the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums (CEC) to ensure a higher quality and faster conduct of elections and referendums in the country. In particular, it is proposed to reduce the number of members of the CEC.

During the discussions, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev emphasized the importance of assessing the criteria and requirements for the members of the Central Commission.

In addition, the Committee also reviewed and supported the bill "On Amendments to the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic 'On Conflict of Interest'" in the third reading.

As a result of the discussions, the bill on reducing the composition of the CEC was approved in the second reading.
