In an interview with the Kabar agency, the city mayor Aibek Junushaliev stated that the use of sand to combat ice will be discontinued. According to him, this decision is driven by the desire to improve the environmental situation and maintain the cleanliness of the capital, as the mixture of snow and sand heavily pollutes the road surface.
The mayor noted: "To prevent dirt in the city, sand will no longer be spread. Instead, we will only use salt for melting snow on the roads."
It should also be mentioned that earlier the mayor responded to residents' criticism on social media regarding the quality of street cleaning after recent snowfalls. He emphasized that the work on cleaning the city is carried out in accordance with established standards and technological norms.
