The mayor discussed the decentralization of the heating system
The plans of the Bishkek city administration include abandoning centralized heating provided by the CHPP. This statement was made by the city mayor Aibek Junushaliev at an off-site meeting of the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh.
According to him, "we are moving towards the decentralization of the CHPP heating system. Eight locations have been selected in the city for the installation of new boilers. If the experiment proves successful, in the future we will be able to completely abandon the CHPP and will not have to modernize the underground heating networks," noted the mayor.
It is worth noting that the CHPP in Bishkek is an important element of the energy infrastructure, serving not only the capital but also several countries in Central Asia. This combined heat and power plant began its operations in 1961.
On August 29, 2024, at an extraordinary session of the Bishkek City Kenesh, the transfer of the property complexes of the Bishkek CHPP and "Bishkekteploset" to the city administration was approved.
