In raising this issue, Kozyuev noted that the landfill periodically catches fire, and the wind carries garbage to nearby settlements, leading to a deterioration in air quality.
Another deputy, Shairbek Tashiev, suggested separating the waste from the soil and directing solid household waste for recycling at the new waste processing plant.
Umbetaly Kydryliev, who was also present at the meeting, reminded that the landfill has been in operation for 50 years and inquired whether its reclamation is planned.
In response, Mayor Junushaliev stated that reclamation is not currently being discussed; however, the city administration intends to address the garbage mountain issue. In the near future, the management of the new waste processing plant is expected to present its plans and proposals on this matter. "The landfill will be eliminated. We have such an opportunity. We will start work in 2026. It is necessary to thoroughly study the entire technological process," he noted.
